About Karyn

 

Karyn Kurzeja has over 20 years experience in urban planning covering all aspects of resource management.

Karyn has extensive experience in securing land use and subdivision resource consents for large scale residential development projects, as well as small to medium density housing developments, commercial land uses and childcare centres.

Karyn has specialist skills in land development in greenfield growth areas, as well as private plan change rezoning applications.

Throughout her career, Karyn has prepared and presented evidence at Council hearings and the Environment Court and she has experience with the resolution of Environment Court appeals and judicial reviews.

Karyn has been a full member of the New Zealand Planning Institute since 2005. In 2017, Karyn was selected as an Independent Hearing Commissioner for Auckland Council and has since been appointed to sit on a variety of plan change and resource consent hearings.

In 2018, Karyn started Purpose Planning, where she is the sole Director.

Karyn achieved Chairing Endorsement of the Making Good Decisions Programme in 2020.
